Thermostatic Mixing Valves
Blending Hot With Cold Water Consistently With A TMV
Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMV)
Over 4000 children, elderly people and people with disabilities are treated in hospitals annually across Australia for burns injuries caused by hot water.
Although scalds from hot tap water are not uncommon, many people are not aware that ordinary household tap water can be a source of injury.
All heated water installation shall, at the outlet of all sanitary fixtures used primarily for personal hygiene purposes, deliver heated water not exceeding-
(a) 45*C for early childhood centers, primary and secondary schools and nursing homes or similar facilities for young, aged, sick or people with disabilities; and
(b) 50*C in all other buildings
It is law that thermostatic mixing valves be installed to provide the required water temperature – there is no exception.
